As a mother, wife, and business owner, I've often found myself asking God to change those around me to make life easier. I prayed for my husband to be more understanding, for my children to be less challenging, and for my colleagues to be more cooperative. It seemed like the logical thing to do—to ask God to transform the people causing me stress. But through reflection and faith, I came to a humbling realization: I was the one who needed to change.
Realizing the True Purpose
By asking God to change others, I was essentially telling Him that His creation was flawed, that He made a mistake. How dare I question the Creator of all things? God, in His infinite wisdom, created each person for a specific purpose, and it is not my place to ask Him to alter His design. Instead, I needed to ask for guidance on how to handle and appreciate the unique individuals He placed in my life.
Turning Inward for Transformation
The real breakthrough came when I stopped focusing on changing others and started asking God to transform me. I prayed for patience, understanding, and the strength to handle the challenges that come with motherhood, marriage, and running a business. By shifting my focus inward, I began to see the beauty in God’s creation and the purpose behind their behaviors and traits.
Embracing Motherhood with Grace
As a mom, there were times I questioned if God gave me the wrong seeds in my children. Parenting can be incredibly demanding, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But instead of asking God to change my children, I began to pray for wisdom on how to nurture and guide them. I realized that my role is not to mold them into what I think they should be, but to help them grow into who God destined them to be. Each child is a unique blessing with their own path, and my responsibility is to support and love them unconditionally.
Letting Go and Trusting God's Plan
It's a common human flaw to want control over our surroundings, but true growth comes from letting go and trusting in God’s plan. I learned to stop dwelling on the past and the person I once knew and started embracing the person they are becoming. Growth is a continuous journey, and it's important to accept and celebrate the evolution of those around us.
Personal Reflection and Prayer
As we navigate through our roles as mothers, wives, and business owners, let's take a moment to reflect and pray:
"Heavenly Father, thank You for the people You have placed in my life. Help me to see them through Your eyes and appreciate their unique purpose. Grant me the wisdom and patience to nurture and guide them, and transform me to be the person You want me to be. Let me grow alongside them and accept them as they are, trusting in Your perfect plan. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen."
God’s creation is perfect, and each person has a unique purpose. By focusing on personal growth and seeking God’s guidance, we can better handle the challenges in our relationships and appreciate the beauty in others. Let’s embrace God’s creation and strive to grow together, trusting in His divine plan.
